"And I have one of those very loud, stupid laughs. I mean if I ever sat behind myself in a movie or something, I'd probably lean over and tell myself to please shut up." -J. D. Salinger

Are you superstitious? Cause I sure as hell am. Blame that on the fact that I'm Mexican, or Catholic, or that I've watched one too many scary movies in my life (but I still watch those scary movies because.....I just.....have to).
Anyway, about a mile and a half down the road from these abandoned cars is an abandoned house with a couple of abandoned sheds and a tiny barn. Did I mention they are abandoned? Ha. I don't know what it is about empty houses but I have to go check them out. It's kind of a rule. So we crawled underneath the barbed wire fence to go have a look see. Lots of peeling wallpaper and broken furniture, pretty standard stuff for old abandoned houses. There was even the skull and spine of a bird that was left on the floor of the entryway which I thought was pretty cool. We were probably in the house for maybe five minutes when my dog, who was wandering out front near the sheds, started to freak out. Little Jersey isn't one of those dogs who barks just for the hell of it. So when she barks, we pay attention. But this wasn't any old warning bark. This was a full on stayawayfrommyhumansorsomethingbadisgoingtohappen kind of snarl.
So what do you do when your dog is spooked and shes kind of freaking you out?
Do you:
A) get the fuck out of there and never look back
B) look around to see what it could be
C) pretend it's nothing and carry on with your exploring

Answer: B. So very obviously B. I mean, she's never the kind of dog to bark at birds or anything like that but you should never rule that out as a possibility. But we didn't see anything.. And she wasn't letting up. So that's when you resort to answer A. We crawled back under that fence as fast as we could and were about halfway back to my car when I put my hands in my pocket and realized....I must have dropped my phone... Jersey was about a hundred yards in front of us leading the way back to the car so I called to her and told her I had to go back to find my phone. She turned around and gave me a look that clearly said,"Are you fucking kidding me right now Chelsey?!" And then she wouldn't come. She did not want to go back to that house. So we went back without her and searched along the fence until we found my phone. And then we got the hell out of there. Its kind of funny to think about it now but we were pretty scared at the time haha. And that about sums up that one day. It still won't stop me from checking out abandoned houses though.

Things I've learned about myself:

I'm too much of a planner. But lets just call them goals, ok? That sounds better anyway.
I wear a lot of black. Get used to it.
I no longer impulse buy as I used to! (round of applause please)
I eat a lot of cereal. Giving up milk for Lent makes that extremely hard.
I really like taking pictures. But clearly I really suck at posting them.
I don't like my hair straight. Then why... don't ask.
I'm a hopeless romantic. Shiiiit..
I only like cheez-its when they belong to someone else. Truth.

I Am a Revenant // Portrait

Joy comes in many forms. For me it came in the form of my trusty green ipod that I've been missing for about 4 years now. I have not had music in my car for almost a year! CD player? Dead. Radio? You're joking, right? This is Idaho! No good music on that since the beginning of time. Forget the radio. It's dead to me too. Which leaves me with my trusty transmitter. But alas, when I got my new iphone last year it was not compatible. And no sign of that green ipod was to be had. So. I went 10 months without any music in my car. It gave me a lot of thinking time when driving to and from work. But who needs extra thinking time. Nope, not me. Take it away. Now. And then I couldn't take it anymore. I tore everything upside down and still couldn't find it. But it was found! I can always trust Annareigh to have something of mine she "knows" she doesn't have. But who cares, I now have music. So if you need to find me I'll be in my car blasting The Distillers and screaming from the top of my lungs "I am a Revenant". Or possibly in these alleyways with Annareigh. Much joy to be had now.

15 Things About Me:

1. My name is Chelsey. I've disliked my name ever since I first started school and found that there were multiple girls in my class with the same name but I can't imagine being called anything else.
2. I'm Hispanic but I can't speak Spanish. I understand it fluently and can read and write it, but for some reason I seem to freeze up when it comes to actually speaking it.
3. Some of my favorite movies: Ferris Buellers Day Off, Breakfast at Tiffanys, and The Breakfast Club.
4. I work as a pharmacy technician. It's an interesting and busy job. But that's all it is, a job.
5. I'm 24 and I still don't know what I want to do with my life. I'm taking a break from school because I was just too bored and nothing seemed to interest me.
6. Getting ready is one of my favorite parts of the day. I'm not too much of a morning person but getting ready is almost like playing dress up ;)
7. My new found hobby is photography. I've come accustomed to my dslr so sometimes I get frustrated with the pictures my iphone takes haha.
8. My best friend is my sister Annareigh. She knows me better than I know myself sometimes.
9. Don't get caught driving behind me in the rain. You'll be sorry you did because I am absolutely terrified of water on the roads.
10. I can't fall asleep without doing the sign of the cross. If I do then I'll wake up and do it.
11. I am extremely shy. It takes me multiple meetings with someone for me to crack my shell and be comfortable around them.
12. Growing up I always thought I was extremely tall. At 5'6" I tower over all the girls in my family. It was only two years ago that I felt comfortable with wearing heels haha.
13. I had braces.
14. I don't like soda. I hate the carbonation!
15. This blog is just a place for me to post my thoughts and pictures that my sister and I take. I hope you enjoy!

All That I've Got // Portrait

It's awkwardness. Growing up I was such a scrawny looking kid with a pigeon toed stance and ears that stuck out and funny looking bangs. Of course I didn't know it too much at the time. You think that learning how to tame your annoyingly frizzy hair and finally getting comfortable with wearing lipstick changes any awkwardness that lived inside you. But the truth is it never goes away. I'm still pigeon toed. I still have scrawny arms. I always manage to say the wrong thing (at the wrong time). I never know how to act around people I don't know. Sometimes I don't know how to act around people I do know! It's my flaw. So don't let any pictures on this blog fool you. My family knows it. My friends know it. And my boyfriend definitely knows it. But I think I'm okay with it now. After all, it's all that I've got.

Two of a Kind

I bought this dress from Zara back in January and finally found a reason to wear it. Not that you can see any of it from these photos. And also, we're kind of awkward. Or maybe it's just me. Definitely just me.

J. D. Salinger is a genius. And Holden Caulfield is my secret boyfriend. The Catcher In The Rye will always be my favorite book. I almost wish it were a movie, but then that would make Holden real. And that could be dangerous.
