Oh, hey 2015, you're going to be my bitch. Never mind the fact that you were off to a rough start what with my sister's kids getting me sick New Years Eve and it sticking around for the first two weeks of the year. Because starting the New Year out not being able to eat is definitely not the way to go. So we're just going to forgive you for that little mishap and continue on our merry way. So I repeat, 2015 you are MY Bitch. So get your shit together! Ain't nobody got time for sickness!

Once upon a time I thought I would try to introduce color into my wardrobe. And that was the most awkward and uncomfortable month I ever had. Maybe it lasted for two months, who the hell knows. It's a time in my life that I like to block out because it's that painful.
A couple of weeks ago one of my older brothers was in a strap for cash so he started selling me his old clothes that he never wears (I am pretty notorious for wearing all the mens clothes, ha!) and he pulled out a teal sweater that he tried to get me to buy. Teal is a beautiful color, and I'm sure plenty of people can pull it off, but I could never feel comfortable wearing such a color. Not even on my nails. He also had in his possession a pair of goggles that he tried to sell me, and even though I do need some new goggles for this snowboarding season they had stupid little flowers on them. Sorry, but I could never be one of those girls who feels the need to "girlify" anything and everything, especially goggles. Besides, how did he end up with those in the first place? I had to break it to him that not all girly girls are created equal. I like my nails painted (black) my dresses and skirts (black) and my hair colored (black) just as the next girl does, I just don't feel the need to shout it from the rooftops in color. Besides, it makes it easier to do laundry when your clothes are practically all the same color ;)

Did you ever see The Guardians of the Galaxy this summer? Because I did. And it's the coolest movie I've seen all year. And it's October. Which is saying something, don't you think? So when it started playing at the cheap theater this week Annareigh and I decided we had to see it again. For $3 a person why would you not? So we pull up to the theatre and notice the movie isn't listed on the marquee. Annareigh and I looked at each other and thought nahhh... It said on the website it's playing here so it'll say it inside. We get inside and what do you know, it's not playing at this theatre but the one clear across town... Noooooo! But we decided since we'd already seen it, it wouldn't be a big deal to miss the first ten minutes. We get back in the car and head downtown, pay for the tickets and head inside the theatre room.
What's funny is that I had never actually been to that theatre in downtown before. So when I walked into the room and was greeted with stairs right away it kinda took me off guard. And you know what? Those stairs aren't even. One long step, two short steps, one long step, short step, long step, two short, you get the idea. SO obviously I fall while walking up the steps. And then I hear Annareigh fall with a loud "SHIIIT!". And then she gets back up and falls again. Hahaha. We finally get to our seats and what do you know, the previews barely started! We made it! So we're watching the previews when the preview for Guardians of the Galaxy comes on. Huh. That's weird. Why would you play the preview to a movie that we're about to see? So we sit and watch it. And then the movie starts and I'm thinking, did I miss the first couple of minutes the last time I saw it? Annareigh turns to me and says, "I think this is just a preview to the Ninja Turtles...." So we sit and watch that for a couple of minutes. Only, it's not a preview. WE WENT TO THE WRONG THEATRE ROOM.
So pretty much we were idiots that day. But we took some pretty fun pictures beforehand so I think that makes up for it. Cropped top is from Asos, skirt-f21, shoes-I couldn't tell you, and belt is probably thrifted.

"Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life, so you bought some sweatpants."
-Karl Lagerfeld
But Karl, these are awesome sweatpants. They're so comfortable obviously, because sweatpants, duh. I remember one time while I was getting tattooed my artist said I didn't strike him as a girl who owned sweatpants. And he was kinda right, save for one pair of regular old Adidas sweats, I don't own any. I don't even own pajama pants with all the annoying prints that girls get crazy about. Which is why I never thought I would fall into the fancy sweatpants trend, but now that I think about it, how could I not? Throw on a leather jacket, add some heels or maybe some high tops and it's a solid look. Give me all the fancy sweatpants!!! Ok, I'm done.

Hey, remember that time I went to a punk show in SLC with my sister and got my earlobe torn off? No? Oh that's right, cause that's what happened this last weekend. Big thanks to the crowd surfer who's belt latched on to my plug. Seven stitches later and my ear looks like it belongs on Sally Skellington. Also, another big thanks to my friend Treven who gave us a ride to the emergency room only to have passed it and managed to get us lost in the hospital searching for someone who would sew my ear back on. We must've looked so stupid wandering around those damn halls. Luckily the deed happened so fast that I have lost all feeling in my ear since the moment it was ripped out. Which is good because according to Annareigh I shouldn't have an earlobe at all. But hey! I do for the time being! And that's all that counts. We'll see what the verdict is once these stitches get taken out. In the meantime I'll be wearing my hair pinned back to one side so that it doesn't get stuck in the bloody mess that manages to creep its way out. What a weekend, I tell ya.
p.s. this romper is so rad. I want to wear it all summer.

Cool things you should know of:
Karl Lagerfeld has created his own emojis. I was very excited and shared this news with a coworker, her response? "Who's Karl Lagerfeld?" (?!?) I can't even. The not so cool thing is its not integrated with the keyboard. Hurry up Karl. We don't have all day, we want to use those emojis now!
Brody Dalle has her own album coming out the 29th of this month. I'm really stoked. She's kind of a badass. Ok, scratch the kinda, she is a badass. I love all things Brody Dalle.
Alexander Wang is collaborating with H&M. (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I cannot wait until November 6th. Day off from work for sure. Because for one, we don't have an H&M anywhere near here, and two, I need some Wang in my life.
Lana Del Rey's song West Coast. At first I didn't like it, weird right? But now it's on repeat. All. The. Time. Can't get enough of it.
This sweater. Quilted faux leather elbow patches? Gold zippers? Black knit? I don't ever want to take it off.

It's winter. It's 2014. And it's about time I actually post something. Let's talk about these clothes. Let's talk about how when it comes to clothes I've learned to not discriminate. New, thrifted, men's clothing, maternity wear, XL, small, I'll take them all. This black tunic for example, it's from the maternity line at Asos. It's long, and roomy and it's probably my favorite piece of clothing that I own. This sweater was something that I had my eye on last winter from Zara. And by the time I talked myself into it, it was only available in a large. And you know what? Buying it was the best decision I ever made. Oversized clothing is just how I like it.

See these pieces? Fur vest, golden maxi skirt, and leather look skinny jeans. I've had each of these pieces for well over a year, and each of them needs some altering which I still have not done! Surprised? Don't be. It's just typical me. And I can't be the first to purchase clothing thinking I would get around to fixing it up! So let's talk about these, shall we?
The Vest: The vest I got last Christmas from a gift card to Aeropostale. Ha. Of all the places to get a gift card from Aeropostale is the least of which I would ever purchase clothing from. However I did manage to come across this vest and it only came in a medium. So of course I bought it thinking I would just take it in. I did manage to finally rip the seams and cut the excess, I just haven't gotten around to actually sewing it together. Ah, such a simple task that was left but yet its still not done!
The Skirt: Ah, this skirt is from two summers ago haha. How embarrassing to even admit that! I got this from Forever 21 and it was a little too big so I took it in on the waist. It is really flowy though and I thought it was a bit unflattering so I cut out excess fabric on both sides. Again, all I have to do is sew it back together and then I'd have a new skirt. But this one is a bit trickier. The fabric is a bit different than what I've worked with in the past and I can't seem to get it to look smooth when I do sew it. I'll have to ask for my moms help with this one but I've never gotten around to doing that either.
The Jeans: These I purchased from Asos in the springtime. I got so confused with the UK sizing that these turned out to be a size bigger than I wanted. I just have to take them in on the waist and they should be good to go for the most part. The inseam was a couple inches too long and with zippers on the ankle I'm not sure how I would even fix that. Perhaps just be content with folding them under I suppose.
But anyway, I really hope to get to sewing on these this weekend. Fingers crossed though!
How I Saved My Leather Jacket
Posted on: Sunday
Not all faux leather is created equal. Some can be as soft as butter and just all around perfect. And others, like my jacket here, can also be very soft but squeaky. Squeaky I tell you. I've purchased a couple different things from Zara that had faux leather on it; leggings, dresses, shirts. The faux leather on these pieces were all very soft and completely noise free. But this jacket here is the complete opposite. It squeaks. It was bad enough that I contemplated sending it straight back. But it was just too beautiful of a jacket that I decided I would try and find some way to fix the problem.
So what do you do when you have a squeaky leather jacket and you're on your way to work and you just really really want to wear it? You flour it. Wait, what? Yes, you heard me right. I floured my leather jacket. As in, I grabbed a cup of flour, sprinkled it over my jacket and rubbed it all over. And you know what? It worked. But only for a short time. But it worked! It's probably not something I would recommend to everyone though, as when I arrived to work and shared my story with my coworker who laughed hysterically, and then revealed that maybe it wasn't the best idea as flour or any powder could possibly dry out the leather and cause it to crack. Silly me.
And while my leather jacket managed to find its voice again at work it also managed to catch the eye of a customer who exclaimed,"Wow! You look like a badass! Do you drive a motorcycle?" Ha ha ha ha ha. Why thank you kind sir, for thinking I look like a badass. But if you were to know how I had floured it in such a rush that morning and then managed to fall down the stairs as I was heading out to my car you would not think that word would apply to me. In my defense I had a backpack, purse and box of Halloween goodies to mail to my sister and her kids. In the stairs defense there were only three steps and I had walked up and down them for years and should have known better. Still, not the true happenings of a badass.
So while I don't recommend "flouring" a squeaky leather jacket, I do recommend that every girl have some sort of leather jacket in their wardrobe. I find that they are the best pieces to add to any outfit because it completely changes the look and feel of it, squeaks and all.

Watching: re-runs to The Walking Dead. When this show first came out I have to admit I hated it. I'm not a fan of gory movies or shows at all. But once you get past all those details it's such crazy story. I'll be watching the premiere tomorrow for sure.
Reading: A Clockwork Orange. I remember the day when I first bought this book years ago. Lusio had invited me over for a movie night to one of his favorite movies and it just so happened to be the book that I had just bought! Of course I liked the book better than the movie. Duh.
Eating: Cinnamon Churro ice cream. It's like a cinnamon toast crunch flavored ice cream. Need I say more?
Listening to: Macklemore. I'm also super bummed that his upcoming show to Boise is sold out. Lusio had invited me to go with him to his show last fall but I chose statistics class over Macklemore. Worst decision ever.
Inspired by: these photos Jill took over on Lune. They help me appreciate that I live in an equally beautiful and peaceful place.

Packed and ready to go. Lusio and I have been planning this trip for quite some time. On the itinerary: snorkeling at Haunama Bay, Pearl Harbor, shark dives, Maunawili Falls hike, and beach visits every day. This will be my second visit to Hawaii and Lusio's first. I'm so excited for him, maybe even more excited than he really is. We'll be arriving around sunset and I can't wait for him to get his first glimpses of the islands.

I've always had a love/hate relationship with summer. When you work full time in the summer it limits your summer wardrobe. Forget the shorts, sleeveless dresses and sleeveless tops. Sandals are ok, but I've never been able to get super excited over sandals when boot season is just around the corner. Long socks, cardigans, boots, leather jackets; these are why I can't wait for fall. I suppose when you live in a place where it's winter 8 out of 12 months of the year you tend to know more about dressing for said season. And besides, layering is where it's all at anyway.

I have never owned so much white in my entire life. I tend to gravitate towards neutrals when adding things to my wardrobe, and lately white has been taking place of any black that I would normally wear. Which works out perfect. Black and white just go together after all, right?

One of my pet peeves is wearing shirts that cover my collarbone. I don't know why, but it just makes me feel claustrophobic in my clothes. So obviously when I bought this shirt I had to take the collar out. Which made the sleeves look weird and so I ended up taking those off too. Now it's just perfect.

I know, I know. It's MAY! But I never got around to posting these pictures last October and I figured now was as good of a time as any other. This day was fun though. Annareigh came with me so that we could take pictures by the park at school before my class started. There were so many leaves to play with! But that was forever ago. Maybe if I can get back into the swing of things I'll post some more recent pictures? Fingers crossed.
